St. Mary Magdalene Guild Hosts Annual Charity Drive

The St. Mary Magdalene Guild successfully hosted its Annual Charity Drive, bringing together members of the diocese to support local shelters and families in need.

On August 12, 2024, the St. Mary Magdalene Guild organized its Annual Charity Drive at St. George’s Church, continuing a beloved tradition of giving back to the community. This year’s event focused on collecting essential items, including food, clothing, and toiletries, for local shelters and underprivileged families in our diocese.

The event was a resounding success, with over 200 members of the community participating. The guild members worked tirelessly to organize the drive, ensuring that all donations were distributed to those in need. The event also featured a special prayer service led by Guild President Sarah Nkomo, who emphasized the importance of compassion and service in our faith.

“The overwhelming support from our parishioners and the community has been truly heartwarming,” said Sarah Nkomo. “Through our collective efforts, we’ve been able to make a significant impact on the lives of those who need it most.”

The donations collected during the drive will be distributed to various shelters and families across the diocese over the coming weeks. The St. Mary Magdalene Guild extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this noble cause.

As part of its ongoing mission, the guild plans to organize more community service events in the coming months, including a mentorship program for young women in the diocese.
