Statement and Prayers Following the Scholar Transport Tragedy in Gauteng

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ

We share with you the attached statement from the Anglican Church of Southern Africa following the tragic scholar transport accident in Gauteng. We hold the affected families, communities, and all who mourn in our prayers, asking God to grant comfort, strength, and healing in this time of deep loss.

This tragedy reminds us of our shared responsibility to safeguard the lives of children entrusted to our care. I encourage Anglicans in the Diocese of George to remain vigilant and proactive in promoting the safety of scholars, particularly by monitoring scholar transport services within our communities and ensuring that they comply with the laws and regulations of our country.

May our concern be expressed not only in prayer, but also in attentive care, advocacy, and responsible action, as we seek the well-being of all God’s children.

Yours in Christ

The Right Reverend Edwin Desmond Pockpass

GEORGE DIOCESE
